The Brooklyn College Emergency Medical Squad was founded in 1977. The squad provides emergency pre-hospital medical care and ambulance services, limited medical screenings, and " stand by services". The squad also offers First Aid, CPR and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) training. These services are provided to the Brooklyn College Community, Midwood High School, and P.S. 152 without cost or obligation to the patient and without compensation to the members of rendering services.

The Brooklyn College Emergency Medical Squad works out of an office in 021 Ingersoll and maintains its own radio system, equipment and ambulance. Including state-certified Emergency Medical Technicians, the squad is compromised of approximately one hundred volunteers most of whom are current or former students of Brooklyn College.

Choosing to become a member of BC-EMS may prove to be one of the most rewarding college experiences. Besides being part of a close-knit group of dedicated and compassionate people, you will gain incomparable experience and the satisfaction of helping others.

Even the professionals need to review their skills sometime. One of the most important parts of riding on an ambulance is keeping up with your medical skills. If you're a rookie have a go at the simulators, practice makes perfect! Click the link below to go to the CME page.

The members of BC-EMS attend all the events on Brooklyn College. Some of our members attend with their cameras and document the occasions for posterity. Check out our photo album and see what went on.

We are seeking motivated individuals who are interested in volunteering for BC-EMS. We provide free first aid and CPR classes for all members of the campus community. In addition, volunteers who are interested in becoming Emergency Medical Technicians can have the class sponsored by the squad.

BC-EMS holds CPR and first aid classes throughout the semester. The classes are free and do not require a commitment to the squad. For further information, call or stop by the squad office.

Look for us at the "Welcome Back Bash" this Thursday.
